The PoolStar™ LED Series is designed for in-ground pool/spa lighting. The series is composed of four standard configurations: SP2500 (Full Color), SP1000 (Full Color), SP2500VL (Full Color - Vinyl Liner Pools) & SP3200 (White LED Only). Complete kits contain everything needed for a successful installation. Detailed instructions are included in each kit.
How do I determine what lights are needed for
which pool sizes?
How do I determine what lights are needed for
which pool sizes?
Customer’s lighting requests will vary, but the
rule of thumb is:
One (1) SP2500 illuminates approximately 250
square feet of area (Example in a 12 x 36 or a
14 x 30 - 2 lights should be ample).
One (1) SP1000 illuminates approximately 150
square feet of area.(Spa application is common
but not exclusive to this unit)
Variations occur if there are contours in the
shell that may cause "shadow zones" in the pool.
Combination of sizes can resolve this issue.
Because placement of the light is not
pre-determined, as long as you have at least a 2
1/2" or 4" flat surfaces, the PoolStars can be
inserted anywhere.
One (1) SP3200 (White LEDs only) lights may be
used to create a "night glow" effect in any size
shell. This light can be an added value product
or marketed as a “safety” benefit.
All PoolStars™ are 120-volt input and 12-volt
systems at the water side.
Do these lights need an installation inspection?
Not at all! The PoolStar™ Series lights are ETL
certified. If your inspectors have questions
regarding your PoolStar™ installation, contact
an O'Ryan lighting specialist at - 800-426-4311.
They can provide all the certification documents
required to insure installation is not delayed.
What size wall opening is needed for the
PoolStar kits?
Using a standard hole saw as follows;
PoolStar™ 1000 is a 2-1/2" hole opening
PoolStar™ 2500 is a 4" hole opening
PoolStar™ 3200 is a 2-1/2" hole opening
PoolStar™ 2500VL is a 4" hole opening
How do I install a light on a curved surface?
The PoolStar™ comes complete with a compensator
ring. This rounded, heavy duty plastic ring is
placed on the outside of the pool wall to
provide stability and even pressure to the niche
can. This prevents damage, such as cracking, to
the niche.
How does the PoolStar™ seal against the pool
wall?
Double reinforced ribbed gaskets are used with a
provided and approved non-acidic silicone
lubricant to make the unit water tight.
What if I want to install more than one light?
Do I need multiple power supplies?
The answer is no. PoolStar™ 2500 power supply
(36VA) can chain as many as 4 like units
together. PoolStar 1000 power supply (20VA) can
chain as many as 6 like units together. Multiple
lighting configuration systems are common in
larger pools and/or spas packages. If you are
linking a combination of LED sizes together,
contact our lighting specialists for further
assistance.
What kind of LED comes in the kits? wedge-base
bulbs? MR16 pin-base bulbs?
Starburst 28S and Starburst 72S LED bulbs are
wedge-based lights that fit into the standard
O'Ryan socket.
The Starburst 32W bulb is a MR16 pin-base light
that fits into a standard MR16 halogen socket.
Why is the PoolStar™ a dry niche system?
With LED technology, there is less heat
generated from the bulb and they do not require
a wet niche to keep from overheating.
Does the
PoolStar™ Series kits work with a wireless
remote control?
YES! It is an optional accessory and purchased
separately. This wireless remote can be used up
to 300ft from the control panel to adjust the
color changing function of the lights or to turn
them on and off.
What does the number on the LEDs in a bulbs
mean?
Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights are often
named designating how many diodes (individual
light bulbs) are on the circuit board. The
larger the number the more lights will be
illuminated to product the color array. The
Starburst 72S LED is composed of 72 diodes. The
Starburst 28S LED is composed of 28 diodes and
so on.
Do the Starburst™ LED bulbs have color patterns?
YES. The StarBurst™ "S-Series" LED bulbs have 7
amazing solid colors and two programmed
sequences (Chameleon Mode – slow moving fade
program or Party Mode - faster pulsating
program). Colors include: Bright White, Aqua
Blue, Soothing Violet, Ocean Blue, Majestic
Gold, Shamrock Green, and Fiery Red.
How do I change the color of my light?
This is accomplished by toggling the power
switch on/off.. The bulb will remain on that
color until the switch is toggled on/off again.
Starburst LED Operational Instructions are
included in each kit or are found at
StarBurst Instruction Sheet .
Are the PoolStar™
LEDs
synchronizable?
YES! All StarBurst™ "S-Series" LED bulbs
synchronize with other "S-Series” bulbs.
What if the lights don't synchronize?
The simple RESETTING procedure requires only
that you toggle the power switch on and then off
at an interval appropriate for the distance they
are away from the power control panel. This is
usually at intervals such as Off
1001,
1002, 1003, 1004, 1005 – then ON.
A distance of 250 ft will take a few
seconds longer to disconnect fully than 25 ft.
will take. The lights will then cycle at the
same time on the same stations.
Is
there just a white LED light?
All StarBurst™ LED bulbs contain the color
white. The StarBurst™ 32W consists of white
diodes only.
